100 Years?

This time John McCain really blew it. His most recent "gaff" came at town hall meeting when he said that he wished to remain in Iraq as long as it took to get the job done. I mean, who does he think he is? (Please note my sarcasm) When asked about staying in Iraq for 50 years, McCain replied, "Make it a hundred. We've been in Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea for 50 years or so. That would be fine with me, as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed."

This statement demonstrates McCain's clear understanding of the situation. As a Vietnam Vet, he know first hand how defeat in war wrecks a nation and an army. McCain also knows that leaving the Iraq before the right time will have terrible repercussions. And like General MacArthur, McCain realizes, "In war there is no substitute for victory."
